Ferrocarril is a project for an international art network designed in 2013 by graphic designer and printmaker Umberto Giovannini and puppeteer and theatre director Luca Ronga. Ferrocarril develops into a series of social-artistic journeys, from South America to Europe to work with the communities in search of an identity through the language of art leading to a reflection on our contemporary condition.
The project is born reflecting about two questions:- In a world of social-networks can we come back, through the journey, to a human, cultural and artistic direct exchange?- In a particular historical art moment, could a direct relationship with people give a reason to make art?
The first Ferrocarril was in Argentina during the winter 2013-2014, from Buenos Aires to the rural areas of the north region of the Andes, sharing a deep experiences with several people met there, together with artists came from Europe and South America.
Umberto Giovannini during the trip realized the series Ferrocarril 1. Xilo-reportage, Argentina, Dicembre 2013-Gennaio 2014, and uploaded almost every day the following blog.
